#1 Health Effects of Ecstasy
The possible acute adverse effects of ecstasy use are many. This drug not only alters one's mood, but can cause anxiety, nausea, sweating, hot/cold flushes, jaw clenching/teeth grinding, high pulse/blood pressure/body temperature, dry mouth, insomnia, poor concentration, hallucinations, irrational behavior, vomiting, convulsions, dehydration and agitation. This drug can cause confusion about what is too much to drink: a user can drink too much liquid and breakdown of cell structure (cells swell, burst and die) will occur. This can affect the liver, heart, lungs or brain. The brain can also lose the ability to release serotonin (which regulates mood, memory and body temperature). In the long term this drug is a neurotoxin and can affect short term memory.
