Is the function of science is to reassure, while the purpose of art is to upset? ... To reassure and to upset, in my point of view, coexist in both science and art; the sole distinction lying between them is that which one plays the major role in each case. Yet, in either scenario, the value of science or art lies neither in reassurance nor in upset. ... Knowing how and why everything happened, as also a chief function of science, ensures people realize that they can partly control their life, even the circumstances around them. ...
Though minor, upset is a feature of science, hiding in unintended discovery or in some failures. ... However, such result is just a side effect of science, which cannot outweigh the reassurance.
Otherwise, the main role in arts is played by upset rather than reassurance.
