"The word "hunger" once recalled to mind images of starving Africans; wide, vacant eyes; skin and bones; bloated stomachs; death and decay. Hunger was my mother's warning- "people are starving in Ethiopia!" when I failed to finish my dinner. Hunger was what I might find should I dig deep through to the opposite side of the earth. I can only imagine my reaction if my mother instead had said, "Honey, think of our starving neighbors!"" (The Brown University Op-Ed Services)
When most people perceive hunger, they tend to think in the manner stated above. They see hunger as a third-world problem that doesn't affect the United States. The reality is though is that hunger is a major problem in the Unites States, but because most people have a misconception of what hunger really means they tend not to recognize the problem that is within our own borders. The intention of this paper is to define what hunger is, the prevalent cause of this problem, and then also discuss a way in which this problem can be rectified.
When dealing with this issue the first thing one needs to understand is, what is hunger?..
