Alford "Eccentric" Lord Tennyson was born 5 January 1809, the third son of Elizabeth Fytche Tennyson and Reverand George Clay Tennyson. Tennyson, in my opinion, made a great impact on society even to this day. He had a very successful career and made many contributions to all literature.
Alford wrote his first poem at age 8 and wrote his first blank play at age 14. In 1827, he started school at Cambridge, and published his first literary work that showed up in "Poems by Two Brothers". At Cambridge he made life long friends that all influenced and help out his life in one way or another, like Edward Fitzgerald, Dhackery and Arthur Henry Hallam. In 1830, Tennyson's "Poems, Chief Lyrical" was given lots of praise that boosted his career. Arthur Hallam introduced Tennyson to Emily Sellwood, (which would eventually become the love of his life) became engaged to Tennyson's sister Emily. Eventually Alford and Emily married, but not without any objections from Emily's father. Emily's father believed that Alford was too "poor" to marry his daughter which made their marriage suffer greatly...
