Abortion: Legalized Murder
Abortion has long been a controversial issue. The laws against abortion began to appear as early as the 1820s. The law back then stated that abortion after the fourth month of pregnancy was illegal (Lewis 1). ... By 1965, all fifty states banned abortion, with some exceptions which varied by state: to save the life of the mother, in cases of rape or incest, or if the fetus was deformed. ... Wade declared most existing state abortion laws unconstitutional (Lewis 2). ... As a Catholic, I am completely against abortion and believe that the life of the unborn child is in the hands of God and people, as human beings should not interfere.
Religion has much to do with my position on abortion. ... Although the Bible does not say anything directly about abortion, it does outline how important and unborn child is. ... Taking life from an unborn child could be considered murder because that baby will never see what it is like to live life and will never experience all the wonderful things that come from childhood and adulthood.
If someone does not believe in religion there are also other reasons abortion should be outlawed. ... Therefore, to kill that life could easily be considered murder, even if it is the mother’s choice. If this were still the case and the heartbeat did determine life, then nearly all abortions would be outlawed because they would definitely be considered murder.
