STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
What is the status of the sectoral lobby and representation of women in Philippine legislation?
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
- To assess the quality of sectoral lobby and representation in advancing the status of the Filipina in the content of congressional bills passed during the presidency of Aquino and Estrada.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
- To identify the passed and unpassed bills formulated in Philippine Congress during the presidency of Cory Aquino and Joseph Estrada that seeks to advance the future of the Filipina.
- To determine the legislative objectives favoring women in terms of protection through specific laws/ provisions passed by Philippine Congress.
- To identify the lobbying actions employed by sectoral groups in promoting the passage of women sectoral bills in Philippine Congress.
- To account for the factors that contributed to the success and failure of these lobbies in specific women-related legislations.
- To situate the status of advocacy for women's rights in contemporary Philippine society from among feminist personalities and groups and female legislators in Philippine Congress.
- To determine the goals of feminist groups in the Philippines in advancing the future of the Filipina.
