The Unconscious Mind
For theorist, the existence of the unconscious mind has been questioned. The question is not of if the unconscious mind exist or not, but of how it exist. Theorists like Plato, Jung, and Freud each have their own theories involving the unconscious mind. Plato's theory is that we are born with all the knowledge we'll ever need, we just need to be reminded of that. For Freud his claim is that our unconscious mind hold repressed memories that we would like to forget, but in our dreams those repressed memories are let go a wish fulfillment. Jung, a student of Freud, believes that we have a personal unconscious mind, where like Freud, we have repressed memories, but then adds that we also keep forgotten thoughts and memories, and that we have a collective unconscious mind, in that we inherit the way we think and perceive. The idea of each theory is undeniably different, but how they all correlate with one another in that each theory involves the idea of the unconscious mind. So can it possible that we're born with all the knowledge we know and just need to reminded to be conscious of that? Would it believable that we inherited a certain way of thinking and perceiving? What can be said about the unconscious mind is that it does exist, of not then what can explain all the unconscious things we do?..
