Should animal testing be used in Scientific Research? Why AND why not?
Animal testing is when scientific researchers use animals in biomedical and veterinary research aimed at understanding diseases, developing new medicines, testing the safety of chemicals, improving the health of other animals and improving human health. It has part of biomedical research for several centuries. Experiments with animals were conducted in Greece two thousand years ago.
Just about everyone knows someone, maybe in their own family, that has or has had cancer, heart conditions, diabetes, or has had to have surgery. My grandmother has had numerous heart attacks (her first massive one at the age of 35), an open heart surgery, three other heart surgeries, a series of mini strokes, Emphysema (from second hand smoke), and she's a diabetic. My grandfather has had two different types of cancer that he has overcome (for the time being). A lot of their treatments and medicines have come from the research and experiments that have been done on animals. Using animals has lead us to finding cures for diseases (no humans harmed)...
