Cancer In The Family
Every year millions of people are diagnosed with cancer of some sort. Almost every family in America either has a member that has cancer, or knows someone that has it. Some of the more common forms of cancer are breast cancer, skin cancer, and prostate cancer.
I had fortunately never experienced cancer in my family, until this past Christmas when my grandpa told us that he had skin cancer. Every one in the family was concerned about how bad it was going to be, but he told us that it wasn't that bad of a case. We were still concerned and made sure that he kept up with and went to the doctor for it, because he had a tendency to not want to go to the doctor.
Luckily my grandpa's case of cancer is not that bad, but unfortunately not everyone is as lucky as we are. Many people do not live more then a year after they are diagnosed with cancer, depending on what type of cancer it is and if the treatment is effective. Cancers such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, ovary cancer, and so on all require some type of treatment otherwise can be fatal.
