The French constitution started with the declaration of the rights of man and citizen. This declaration was formed in August 26,1789. It was constructed from the American's declaration which made many things similar. The French constitution main focus was to take away the power from the powerful few and give it to the weaker many. The powerful few consisted of political figures and the church body. The weaker few which consisted of almost 70% of the land owners were able to restrict the power these groups had by limiting their powers with their rights of man and citizen. In the French constitution it states in short that the people may not be prosecuted by the powerful few for no good reason. The constitution also abolished nobility, guilds (which would be amended later), and religious vows.
Of course like American's constitution, there were amendments to the constitution. The constitution had many rights that were given to men but not women...
