Abstract
Leadership is both a process and property. It is a process through which an individual attempts to intentionally influence another individual or a group of individuals in order to accomplish a goal. Leadership, as a property is a set of characteristics attributed to individuals who are perceived to be leaders. In order to be effective in a health care environment, leaders need to possess excellent relationship management skills. The purpose of this paper is to study the importance of leadership in the managerial role at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center (RPSLMC), a large academic medical center in Chicago and how perspective can differ in working relationships.
