Some people ,working in the field of science and education, regard any form of nonmainstream areas of inquiry as absurd and of little use. It is pity, because the reduction of the paranormal beliefs really is a good cause, but as long as science cannot provide explicit explanation to all the phenomena ,as long as our educators rely on traditional ways to forbid such pursuit, paranormal beliefs would neither be reduced (diminish)nor eliminated. As a matter of fact, it does play a vital role in some aspects of life as the writer suggested, but on the whole, facing reality is somewhat more useful than simply turn to supernatural beliefs.
As a threshold matter, science has made great progress during the past centuries, yet it cannot explain everything in our every day life. Admittedly, science offers us various perspectives to perceive the world. Equipped with the power of science, human beings are less anxious when they experience terrible thunderstorms, lightning or drought, for they are now aware that it is the natural elements that they fight against , but not some supernatural figures , and more importantly, with the help of modern technology , they are likely to win the battle. Yet when comes to the disease , we are no less upset than our forefathers. Cancer , for instance, is still out of the reach of science. Even though the brilliant scientists of the day have already drawn the gene chart of the cell, no effective method has yet been worked out.
