On the 10/06/04 Penrith City Council announced that the redevelopment of Penrith Plaza will commence, it has cleared the way for the addition of new retailers and a better connection to the Penrith CBD for the centre.
Over the past 3 years, over 1,000 local residents have commented on the future of Penrith Plaza. Penrith Plaza announced that the recently lodged development application with Penrith City Council for a proposed $130 million redevelopment was approved and will begin the redevelopment and expansion of the Penrith Plaza right away.
As part of the development, approximately 90 new stores will be added to the centre. The development will also include undercover car parking and better access points to the centre.
Penrith Plaza manager Melanie Green says the works are culmination of over three years research. Melanie Green also commented "We have spent a lot of time discovering what our customers want and this development responds to those findings.
The combination of the new fashion, leisure and lifestyle stores, plus new restaurants, will create an exciting retail and dining destination in the heart of Penrith. The development includes the creation of a bridge link over Riley Street and the refurbishment of the Red Cow Hotel, which will be restored to it's original character.
