All throughout high school, I was very bold and defensive about my ethnicity. Whenever people attempted to put me down due to such reasons, I never failed to strike back courageously and impulsively. I recall an altercation with a "giant" bully who roamed the halls dictating what people wore and how to behave. Generally I would avoid him at every cost in order to avoid altercations. However, one day he decided to come up to me and ask me where my "towel head" was. My look of ordinary passivity turned to complete infuriation as I responded with "If I brought it in, it would have to be used shove in your loud ass mouth." With that said, I was never bothered again.
It was obvious the guy was on a power trip and was on such an invinsibility high, that he would have never assumed something so vicious would have come out of my mouth. In addition, other people had started looking up to me because of my confidence. It is interesting to observe that such a simple statement that one tells to themselves-- "I am the best" goes a heck of a long way...
