Woods was born on the 15th of November 1932 at Southwark, England and died on the 7th of October 1889. ... Woods started his working life with the London Times but later on due to health problems moved to the south of France where he taught at Mont Bel college and discovered his interest in natural science and geology. Fortunately, while Woods was present in France, he was confronted by Bishop Willson of Tasmania where he offered Woods the opportunity to teach in Catholic Schools throughout Australia where he accepted the proposal. Woods arrived in Australia, in Hobart, in January 1855 after a three and a half month voyage on the Berenecia. ... By the end of the year Woods had moved to Adelaide where he became sub-editor of the Adelaide Times and editor of the Catholic paper The Chaplet. ... His first job as a priest was to baptise his nephew and here on he was known as Father Julian Tenison Woods.
