a) Low self-esteem
Employees with low self-esteem
Tend to make bad choices, because they feel that they are not smart enough to make their own decisions.
If work is difficult they cannot keep up or achieve what they had hoped for or what is expected of them.
Tend to have feelings of inferiority, or they think everybody has greater value than them.
May not be able to interact with members of the opposite sex or people that are their superior within the work environment, without being nervous.
Are unable to speak to groups of people with confidence and have no confidence in their own skills and abilities.
b) High self monitoring
A high self monitor acts differently in different situations e.g. perhaps acting more formally at work or cracking jokes with friends, if that is what others are doing.
High self monitors:
They show variability in behavior in different contexts, and are extremely flexible in adapting to their current situation
They may act differently by being careful when speaking to the boss, and then tend to be more sociable when interacting with colleagues at the same level.
They tend to make better managers and do better in jobs that involve influencing other people (sales, marketing, hiring, politicians)
