I chose the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of new south Wales basically because I've always had interest in the Engineering field and at school I was most good at maths and physics which are generally the basis to any Engineering degree, I thought that if was going to do something at university why not choose a degree that includes what I like doing and what interest me most in order to make my chances of succeeding and passing the degree greater, I couldn't imagine my self doing a different degree such as Medicine , Doctor or even a Lawyer it simply wasn't my area of interest, the only problem I had was what kind of Engineer do I want to end up being. I started looking at the many Engineering degrees offered at different universities to include them in my preferences. I began with the UAC guide which is handed out to every HSC student to give them an idea of what type of courses are offered at different Universities with a brief description outlining each course and it's requirements and pointing out the subjects that are recommended in order to follow up with the course including the type of job opportunities available after a successful completion of the course, this was very helpful to me because after going through most of the Engineering degrees offered I had a fair bit of knowledge and understanding of the Engineering degrees that I could undertake and the one's which I liked most, I chose a couple of Engineering degrees like computer eng, electrical eng, mecatronic Engineering but the one that attracted me and took my interest was Aerospace Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering, one was at the University of new south Wales and the other was at Sydney University. I selected the University of NSW for my first preference, my family and friends helped me on this decision, they all told me that the University of NSW had a really good reputation. What do I expect from this course? Well I expect it to be enjoyable, interesting and inventive because after all that's what I'm going to end up doing in the future, I also expect it to give me enough knowledge, skills and experience needed to be able to find a job with high paying wages to meet the very expensive living demand in our society
