Norse Relation to Tolkien

It is believed that J.R.R. Tolkien drew inspiration from Norse mythology. These are some examples and connections that I have found or thought of.
There is the obvious connection where Tolkien chose the name middle earth. In Norse mythology middle earth is the place where men stay. I also realised Gandalf's treatment of the Stone-trolls is similar to the Norse poem, the Alvissmal (Lay of Alvis). In this poem, Thor meets the Dwarf Alvis who has come to marry Thor's daughter, Thrud (supposedly in payment for weapons that the dwarf has made for the Gods). Thor, who was not aware of the 'bargain' and who does not approve, says he will give his permission if Alvis can tell him all he wishes to learn...
