The two Artworks that I will be discussing are Michaelangelo, Last Judgement, 1534-41 and Rembrandt, The Anatomy Lesson, 1631.
These two painting are by all means most different to one another therefore I thought it would be a good to discuss and therefore can show my perspectives on both of theses wonderful artworks.
Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson, this shows us the involvement of the students, both their involvement with the artist or the involvement with the lesson, we can see this by looking at their eyes and who they are looking at. The artist gives his artwork great dramatic effect and intensity. The composition is very balanced because of Dr. Tulp (who wears a hat to show his significance in the artwork), he is given a lot of psychological power that he is successfully grabs the seven men's attention. There is a large amount of detail within this artwork such as each ones face shows individuality and character, the expressions also give away their interest within the lecture. This artwork is not traditional but the clothing the men wear in this painting allows us to see the time period of when this artwork was painted also by looking at the way their facial hair has bee painted shows us the period that it was painted. This painting also creates a very intensely focused atmosphere but also a peaceful yet gloomy atmosphere.
