Is there nothing new under the sun? The speaker gives the very right answer to the question. There is nothing that is completely new. As a matter of fact, something new is the result of revision of something old merely in new way of thinking. A lot of evidences convince me that originality comes from things that have had their own history. In this view, it can be said that originality is merely the result of continuous effort to revise or ameliorate something inconvenient or not perfect rather than of whole new creation of new ideas.
Of course, there would be a case that one cannot help devising a perfectly new idea from scratch. It can be shown in the case of newly approached area, such as development of material in material engineering or new medicine in the medical area. But scientific history proves that originality is the result of new transformation of something old, though before. A scientific theory performs its duty to solve so-called puzzles and thus have its roots in the mainstream of scientific fields...
