(6) 1. What are the implications of the Heartland vs. the Rimland approach to
Geopolitics?
Simply put, the Heartland theory of geopolitics centers on the importance and domination of a shifting Central European power epi-center. The Rimland theory centers around the coastal areas of a pan Eurasian dominating area. The theories and implications of both are similar in the respect that they both assume the domination of a core geographic entity, whether it is a land area or an encompassing coastal region are the key to dominance in the world power game.
