Comedy review: The Simpsons
The Simpsons episode shown on Monday night was indeed a classic. The story is set in the lounge room in the Simpsons home where they have just witnessed a soccer ad and decide to go to the match. The game escalates to a soccer riot from the stupid behavior by the soccer players (passing back and forth, no action). This then turns into a bigger riot in which the whole city of Springfield is engulfed in destruction, fire, chaos, people shoplifting, violence and vandalizing. From all this danger, Marge (played by Julie Kavner) and Homer (played by Dan Castellaneta) realize the Simpsons home will need some sort of security system to protect themselves. Homer figures that the only way to protect his family is to buy a hand gun, but Marge doesn't see eye to eye in Homers solution.
Although Homer's personality is slow, annoying and dumb witted most of the times he also has a sensitive side. When he may seem reckless and selfish, he always manages to put his family number one on the most important list. We see this when he has to choose between his family and the gun. The fact that he always comes through for his family may be because his family is all he has and Marge always backs Homer up whatever the situation he is in...
