In Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s story “The Yellow Wall-paper” Charlotte and her husband John rented a cabin for the summer. ... She begins to describe this awful looking wall paper that she is going to have to look at for three months. The paper is ripped off the wall in some areas and is faded in others. ... She talks of how the paper is so horrible and yet she cannot stop looking at it and wanting to find the pattern in it. ... Charlotte continues to discuss the wall paper and find new and interesting figures and lines within the paper. She also discovers that the wall paper has a very distinct odor that seems to follow her everywhere. She begins to get closer and closer to this wall paper and wants to find the end to all the patterns. ... She spends a lot of time studying the wall paper and the way the moon light makes the paper move.
