It is absolutely amazing what has happened to Lance in his lifetime. I am sure you have heard that so many times, as have I. But you know, it really is nothing short of breathtaking. It still boggles my mind that a man can survive the cancer that Lance had, let alone win a few tours afterwards. How does one bounce back from such a sickly state to become the greatest bicyclist the world has ever seen? I think it would be much more conceivable for a man to bounce back from cancer to become the best basketball or baseball player of all time. It is because those sports rely on other qualities than excellent physical condition to become the best. One must be extremely coordinated and have good hand-eye coordination. For Lance, and other cyclists, there is only one aspect of athleticism they must have in order to become the best cyclist: their bodies must be strong and enduring. When people go through a life threatening illness, as Lance did, they typically lose much of the physical strength they originally had earlier in life...
