How Important is a Breath of Air?
According to Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Week thirty-six percent of students who try cigarettes end up smoking at least one cigarette a day by the time they graduate. One third of those teenagers will eventually die from a tobacco-related disease. Their lives will be shortened by about twenty minutes for each cigarette they smoke. Those twenty minutes could have been spent hanging out with friends or having fun with their families. Instead, they will choose to waste those twenty minutes by smoking a single cigarette.
Many kids try smoking because their friends do it, or they think they have to smoke to fit into a certain crowd. If their friends will not like them because they will not smoke, then they are not really friends. Kids need to learn to be themselves, resist peer pressure, and retain their individuality. These kids may make a choice that will determine the fate of their lives and the health of their loved ones...
