I just finished reading Uncle Tom's Cabin. At the beginning, I thought that this book was going to be tough to stay focused on, however, I knew that I had to read it for this class and it was a book that I would like to read to have the experience. Shortly before the middle of the book, I started to really get into the story. I liked how the book jumped from Tom's story to Eliza's. It kept me wanting to keep reading to find out what happened next. In fact, there is one point in the book where you don't hear about Eliza's whereabouts for a long time, and as soon as I got to that chapter, I had a sense of relief! When I finished the book I felt content, yet heartbroken for the way people treated others. After reading some passages about beatings of characters like Prue, and especially Tom, I would feel sick just because I understand how often those things happened.
I enjoyed the way this book ended. I think it was necessary that Tom died to reach out to the readers and show the cruelty of slave owners...
