There are many factors that can impact on the eating patterns and activity levels of children, including pear peer pressure, family influence, fast food chains and the media. These factors can have a positive influence, improving the nutritional and health status of children and thereby reducing the likelihood of obesity later in the lifecycle, but others can have a very negative influence, increasing the likelihood of obesity in childhood and later into life (Healey, volume 2, 2004). There are numerous factors that contribute to children's food preferences, these influences usually come from there peers also from family, fast food chains and the media.
There is definitely cause for concern on the issue of childhood obesity in Australia with its rapidly increasing numbers.
