Imagine life without electricity, a total loss of electricity and you knew it would not be coming back. We all know how inconvenient life becomes when our electricity is out for a little bit. It is hard for all of us to remember that for that short period of time the light switches will not produce instant light, the computer, television, or stereo will not come on, or that we can't even have water pumped into our homes. Our world has become very dependent on electricity and it is hard for any of us to imagine how we would live without it and how our ancestors did manage without it.
None of us could ever imagine doing laundry without electricity. Carrying water from a town well would probably just kill us. We really cannot imagine the time and effort put into doing a mere "load of laundry" before electric washers and dryers were on the market and brought into our homes.
Well, what could you do for entertainment without electricity? There were no televisions, CD players, game boys, x boxes, or computers. Perhaps the lack of instant entertainment inspired people to play instruments...
