Winning a state championship in softball was a goal I have dreamed of accomplishing ever since I was a little girl. Never imagining it would happen, I rarely built my hopes up. My senior year in high school my goal became a more than reachable desire because a class “A” state championship made its debut in the state of Kentucky for the very first time. Smaller schools now had an opportunity for the title, and my Tapa Tornados were one of them. Out of all the class "A" schools across the state, only eight teams advanced to this two-day state tournament event. The crowds were enormous and it still amazes me how many chants fans are actually able to come up with.
