The French revolution, violent in its nature and far reaching in its consequences had broken out in France. It was the immediate consequence of the teaching of our own revolution. I recently started looking on the internet, to find the effect the French Revolution had on the U.S. ... I found that people commuting from France back to America affected the revolution’s impact on us, as well as disputes between the U.S. ... French officers and soldiers who had served in America during the latter years of our struggle for independence, returned to their country full of republican ideas and aspirations. ... He expected to find the people of the U.S. ... He had scarcely taken his seat in the cabinet before he declared that some of his colleagues held monarch views, and that there was a party in the U.S. ... The Republicans, who hated the British, called the Federalists the “British party,” and the Federalists called their opponents the “French party.” A surprising piece of information on one web site said the people of the U.S. ... Shortly afterward, the United States requested his recall by the French government. ... French victories, led by the rising of Napoleon, had given them northern Italy.
