College campuses are some of the most diverse places in the nation. Some students come from very diverse backgrounds, whereas others come from not very racially diverse places; this tends to cause a bit of a conflict as seen in the movie Higher Learning. ... Parillo, and Shelby Steele all have different outlooks and different views on the reasons people behave the way they do; these different views correlate with the behaviors of 3 characters in Higher Learning, Malik, Kristen, and Fudge. ... (Higher Learning) And indeed, they did stick together when Billy called Monet a “Black b****”, Malik and all his friends went to Billy’s fraternity to beat him up. ... (Higher Learning)

In brief, Waters, Parillo, and Steele all have their different takes on the characters of Higher Learning; but all views have one thing in common, discrimination is something people of all colors encounter and the characters of Higher Learning all have in some way grown because of social interactions with different races.
