Juvenile Crime
Juvenile crimes in California have been rising more drastically in the past few years then ever before. When I started to research, I discovered there were many reasons to why teen were feeling the need to commit crimes. Hopefully, we can find ways to stop this kind of behavior or at least prevent some of the crimes.
The definition of a juvenile is "An act committed by a minor that would be considered a felony committed by an adult, such a vandalism, burglary, or murder". I believe that many of juveniles committing these are feeling neglected and are using these crimes as a cry for help. Majority of the teen's are victims of low family incomes. In a study of twelve to eighteen year olds in California's juvenile prison, found that more than eight out of ten households with yearly incomes below 20,000 per year is where troubled teens come from. About close to thirty percent had mental disorders and about seventy-five percent of girls and fifty percent of the boys had been sexually assaulted. The juvenile's are usually abused by someone in the family or a friend of the family.
