METHODS INTRODUCTION In the lab dealing with the Standard Metabolic Rate (SMR), the null hypothesis is____________________. The purpose for our investigation was to see the SMR of the cricket in the different environment temperatures which consisted of, cold temperature, warm temperature and room temperature. The SMR is defined as the Standard Metabolic Rate and the Poikilothermy is cold blooded animals. During the experiment it was predicted that the SMR of the cricket in the warmer environment, as opposed to the cold, would be higher. The reason for this prediction was the cricket’s hearts beated faster, which meant they were using more oxygen, making the SMR rate soar. The measurement apparatus was set up. The test chamber was completely sealed all of the tubing was connected and the pipette was submerged, the clamp was also loosened.
