How strong can a man’s faith be? ... This was the question in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story “Young Goodman Brown.” In the story, young Goodman Brown is invited to walk through the woods in the middle of the night with an old man, who in reality is actually the devil himself. Through the woods, they travel and along the way, Goodman Brown meets someone who he called a Christian woman. In the end of the story, Goodman Browns faith is tested to its limit. ... The theme to Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown” is that a person’s faith can be tested to the very limit, but how will this change the way a person sees those around him. ...
