Rachel Truhan GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!!! As the holidays rapidly approach, I am filled with excitement as we will soon be listening to Christmas carols and watching holiday movies again. It has always been our family tradition to see the Muppets’ Christmas Carol and the Disney Christmas Carol during the holidays. You would think I would become bored, but I always remember running to the television and watching another version of these charming story lines. Everyone I know has seen at least one version of the Christmas Carol and has never tires of seeing yet another version. Why does this happen? What makes each version of this story line so unique from each other? What makes my heart jump with joy whenever I hear that a version of the Christmas Carol will be on television that evening? I decided to watch three versions of the Christmas Carol: Mickey’s Christmas Carol, The Christmas Carol with George Scott, and The Muppets’ Christmas Carol and determine how I would react to each of them. Of course, I loved watching versions, but I took particular notice as to how I reacted to particular scenes in each movie. I recall saying that it was great idea to have “Kermit The Frog” as Bob Cratchit, or recalling how I laughed out loud when “Goofy” was dressed as Jacob Marley. Then I realized what made these movies so unique from each other and why so many people watch different versions of The Christmas Carol over and over again.
