The Zulu Tribe of South Africa
Many people have heard about the Zulu tribe of South Africa, but not all know who they really are and how they came about. The history of the Zulu tribe is extensive and colorful. The Zulu history gives way to the rich and vibrant traditions and customs of the tribe. The Zulu religion also helped create the individuality of the South African tribe. The Zulu tribe has survived throughout the colonization and civilization of Africa, even though they have had hardships through out their existence. The tribes history, traditions, customs and religion are just some of the things that separate this tribe from others.
Zululand was first discovered around the late 3rd century by about 1500 migrants originating from southern Africa. Zululand is in the eastern part of South Africa, known today as KwaZulu-Natal province. ... It was not until the late 1800’s that the Zulu tribe arrived and evolved into a large kingdom. The Zulu tribe was first part of the Mthethwa tribe, which was shattered after Dingiswayo, the ruler of the Mthethwa, was killed in a battle with the Ndwandwe (African Nations and Civilization, 2002).
