Phase out of the nuclear sector in Belgium

In july 1999, government parties came to an agreement about the nuclear sector. This agreement contained 2 main decisions. Firstly to develop alternative sources of energy and secondly a few actions that are need to be taken on the long term.
4 alternatives are important for Belgium:
The first one is wind energy. Then there are photovoltaic solar cells which convert sunlight into electricity. Also hydro-electricity is a popular alternative; it is the generation of electricity through water pressure. However this one (has) already reached its maximal potential. The last alternative is that of biomass. This term is used to describe the energy-production by using methane gas which is won from animal feces.
