Girls who are struggling through school or have problems at home would find the novel, No Regrets, by Krista Bell an interesting read. Julia Wright, the main character, tumbled into unknown territory when her mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, while she was at a music festival in Hobart, Tasmania. She was forced to fly home to Melbourne to go see her mother in hospital. It is then while she is sitting beside her mother that she developed a better understanding of herself, her priorities and an understanding of the others around her in Melbourne. She learns how to have a positive aspect on life, through the great use of characterisation by Krista Bell. It is this factor in life that helps us to get through the toughest times that compare with what Julia was going through when her mother fell ill. The characterisation of Julia and her mother is very important in this novel. It is their thoughts and understanding of each other that makes the story interesting.
