Back in the mid 50’s Disney showed us Davy Crockett the wild frontiers man going down in the battle of the Alamo now they decided to bring us a different film that gives us more of an idea of what this man was really like. ... The movie is based upon the 1836 stand off between a group of Texan and Tejano men, led by Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, and Mexican dictator Santa Anna’s forces at the Alamo in San Antonio Texas. This movie is a historical drama detailing the 1835-6 Texas revolution before, during, and after the famous siege of the Alamo where 183 Texans and Tejanos commanded by Colonel Travis, along with Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, were besigned in an abandoned mission outside San Antonio by a Mexican Army of nearly 2,000 men under personal command of the dictator of Mexico, General Santa Anna, as well as detailing the Battle of San Jacinto where General Sam Houston’s rag-tag army of Texans took on and defeated Santa Anna’s army which led to the independence of Texas.
