About four years ago, my family went through a devastating crisis; my dad committed suicide. This life changing experience ended up teaching me a very important lesson. Through the suffering, I was able to change my entire outlook on life. I realized that the goodness of life is a perception. Every human has the ability to be positive or negative about life's issues. When a crisis hits, I know that I have the power to be indulged with self-pity and depression, or work through it and try to see the positive side so that I may move on.
My dad and I were very close. I was what they call a "daddy's girl". He bought me everything I wanted and always took my side when my sister and I were fighting. We played Monopoly religiously, played catch in the backyard, and could just sit and talk for hours...
