In the 1995 movie, Waterworld, director Kevin Reynolds tells the story of a young girl with a tattoo on her back that will lead the now water-bound community to hope of a better life on dry land. Her tattoo plays a significant part of the movie by creating drama and action when people realize what her tattoo represents to them, freedom from their current stagnant water bound life. Many movies used tattoos to show how special and significant the person with body art is to the community. Triple XXX, a 2002 movie produced by Rob Cohen, has a main character covered with tattoos. He is rebellious and performs stunts and activities far beyond normal society participation. The government seeks him out to reprimand him and to use him in a " James Bond" situation that seems hopeless. Once again, we see hope in an unlikely character, who has an image of nonconformity. Henry Rollins is a good example of an actor who takes roles that would seem to fit his appearance of a tattooed rebel, yet he usually contributes to the film in a very compassionate form. In Johnny Mnemonic (1995), he portrays a doctor, that dies for the cause of making the future world a better place for all humanity...
