Hamlet is definitely, what I expected. I expected an inspiring four-hour movie that would forever change my view on William Shakespeare. When I was younger, I felt that Shakespeare was a sappy man who wrote prolonged plots with ill characters and who did not even speak correctly. As I matured, I realized how wrong I was. The main idea of this movie is a king's son avenging his father's death.
It has only been two months since the King of Denmark's death and his widow, Gertrude, Julie Christie, has already remarried. She married Claudius, Derek Jacobi, who is the former king's brother. Claudius then rises to the throne. Hamlet, Gertrude's son, is greatly upset. He thinks his mother married the incorrect male almost immediately...
