The line graphs, figures one and two, are visual representations of the relationship between the independent, the temperature, and the dependent variables, the metabolic rates of the mice and crayfish respectively, showing the cause and effect of our experiment. These line graphs are indicative of how the various temperatures affect the metabolic rate of these two organisms.
For figure one, a decrease was observed in the metabolic rate of the mouse as temperature increased for both the mouse sectional data and the mouse pooled data. With regards to the sectional data the metabolic rate for the mouse was at its highest when the temperature was coldest, and lowest when it was warmest. At 5 oC, the mouse had its highest metabolic rate of 0.28 ml O2 min 1 g 1 while gradually decreasing to its lowest rate of 0.14 ml O2 min 1 g 1 at 20 oC. In the pooled data, a similar trend was observed. As the temperature increased from 5 oC to 20 oC, the mouse's metabolic rate decreased from its highest rate of 0.23 ml O2 min 1 g 1 to its lowest rate of 0...
