Introduction
A pilot study was conducted to assess the public's perception of the Big Issue. A total of 756 people ranging from students to retirees were involved in the questionnaire. The survey consisted an almost equal balance in terms of gender i.e 50.7% male and 49.3% females.
The age profile for those surveyed are provided in the figures below and are broken down according to whether they are Big issue customers or not. The largest number surveyed fell in the 25 40 age group and are those that are mostly employed.
In total, 74% of those surveyed are customers of the Big Issue magazine.
