Making the Olympics Better
Good Morning Ms Pelakakis and classmates. I would like to talk to you about the Olympic Games and how we can make them better. First, let us see how the Olympics originated.
The Olympic Games started when Greek god Hercules won a race at Olympia. He declared that the race was to be run every four years. The Olympics then turned into a religious event held once every four years, a period called an Olympiad. Even though there was wars during these times, a truce was called and athletes were allowed to travel to Olympia to compete. Women were not allowed to compete.
The most recent Olympic Games were held in their birthplace of Greece, and in the city of Athens, they finished a couple of weeks ago. These Games broke many records...
