SUMMARY OF BLACK BEAUTY
Black Beauty is a story of a horse who was bright black in color, had one white leg, and had a white star on his forehead. Black Beauty, who is the main character, tells the story himself as though he was a person. He tells about his memories as a young colt, like how his mother taught him to be gentle and not learn bad ways. He also tells about his experiences which were mostly about how his masters treated him and trained him, and how he was passed on from one cruel master to another. He tells about how his sufferings, while being mistreated by his masters, replaced his original beauty with tiredness, which brought about more suffering to him as his masters became frustrated with him. In this book, Black Beauty tells us that through all his trials and hopelessness, he found friends like Merrylegs and Ginger among others. Ginger though, was very badly mistreated that as Black Beauty tells in this story, she hated humans very much. She cannot stand them. Black Beauty and Ginger were very good friends but sadly, they were sold to separate farms where they had different experiences which were mostly bad.
Ginger and Black Beauty did not see each other for a long time, and when they finally got a chance to see each other, it was very sad for Black Beauty because he saw that his good old friend was not the same horse as she was before...
