The Women of Genesis, were they equal?
The first book of the bible is Genesis. This book is not only in the beginning of the Bible, but it teaches us the beginning of many things. It is a vital book to know because the rest of the Bible often refers back to it. In Genesis we learn about the beginning of creation, the beginning of man, the beginning of sin, and most importantly God's work to re-establish a sinful humanity. As I read the Book of Genesis I was especially interested in the women, for it seemed their roles were not very important, yet they were very equal in different ways.
In the first few chapters of Genesis we learn about Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, then we are introduced to Abram, who will eventually become Abraham. It is the story his family that introduces us to Isaac, Joseph, and Jacob. These are the men and their wives that will form nations. When reading Genesis the focus is on the men, I however will show you that the women were equal to them in other ways, even manipulating...
