SHOULD MEN & WOMEN ALWAYS AND IN ALL WAYS BE TREATED EQUALLY? ... Should men and women always and in all ways be treated equally? ... What must be asked first is this; what is equality and what makes the principle of equality so compelling? ... Is the idea of equality any different than any of the other conventional ideas we have created; such as the notion of freedom, or what we consider to be peace? How much respect does convention deserve when contemplating equality? Does the fact that by its own definition equality is not natural, condemn it? ... What about the traditional roles of men and women; are masculinity and femininity natural or merely conventional? All of these questions arise from the first, and none of them are easily, if at all, possible to answer.
It may be easier tackling this argument from the man’s perspective, such as mine, for women have bared the brunt of a social structure, conventional in nature, which has confined them to be only housewives and baby-makers for generations past. (As many claim) “If institutional changes made it possible to give women total equality, would that not be unfair to men by providing women with a fuller and richer life experience than men can have? ... Most people give in to women’s rights movements reluctantly just to keep them quiet, but do they know what this even playing ground means, and do these women even know what they are asking for?
What are these women asking for? Feminism has come to represent the combined efforts of women’s rights groups. Gender equality represents different things to different groups. ...
Feminist Separatism is founded on a principle that women are superior to men. Followers of this dogma seek a total separation from the male race and an “All Women” Society self-sufficient of men.
