Ideology and the Iraq War
In the world of politics, there are different views to side with. American politics looks at situations from a conservative, liberal, or revolutionary point of view. On a broad scale, international relations are evaluated from similar perspectives. However, major theories of classifying the world views are realism, neorealism, liberalism, neoliberalism, and post modernism. On March 19, 2003, President Bush announced the start of the Iraq War against America. Each school of thought has their own reasons to support, or not to support this decision.
A realist may be able to adequately defend Bush's actions because they strongly support the balancing of power and the use of military action. Liberal internationalists may not find that it was necessary to go into war. Their views of diplomacy, conflict resolution, and peacekeeping take preference over military action.
