In the novel The Light in the Forest written by Conrad Richter, good vs. evil was the main theme throughout the book. With True Son being raised by the only family he knows, his Indian one, he believes that they are the good people. But when returned to his real parents, being white, True Son is bombarded with people saying that his culture was in fact evil. Many of the incidents in which this theme was shown took place in the first couple of days that he returned to his “parents”. The first example was when True Son saw his real father for the first time. His father had put out his trembling hand as to shake True Sons, but True son had refused. Del Hardy then talked to him in Delaware explaining that this man was his father and that you are to shake his hand. Many hostile thoughts must have been flowing through True Sons head.
